Cuts = War

29 Oct

The fight back against the cuts is starting. With cuts as sweeping as they, a lot of people have no option but to fight against them.

Wednesday night was the first Hackney local council meeting since the budget was announced last week so members of Hackney Alliance to Defend Public Services and other community groups were there in their hundreds to voice their opposition to the cuts.

The government keep saying we are all in this together. The fact of the matter is that over the last year, while the majority of people struggle to keep up with the basics, the 1000 richest people in the county found their wealth growing by almost 30%. This is the biggest annual rise since the survey began. We are not all in this together.

The next Hackney Alliance organising meeting is on Tuesday 19th October at the Moth Club Valette Street Hackney (behind the Weatherspoons in Hackney Central). I’ll be there and I hope yo see you there too.

    I will be out at as many anti-cuts protests as possible.

    […] I ordered my first bulk load of aprons and set to work thinking what to print on them and got stuck into more anti-cuts protest. […]
